2017 CSSC Pike Angling Championship The match was fished on Cabin Lake and Ghost Lake, from 9.30am to 4.00pm with all anglers competing for the "CSSC Individual Pike Angling Championship" and the "CSSC Pike Angling Pairs Championship". Only 3 anglers arrived at the agreed meeting time of 8.15am at the fishery, the rest, including the organiser, got caught up in the morning traffic jam and arrived at various times shortly thereafter. The draw took place at 8.45am, and as soon as the draw for individual pegs and the pairs had taken place, the anglers quickly made their way to their respective pegs to fish the match. The results of the 2017 Individual Championships were as follows:- 1st Jim North 2 fish for 16lb 9oz 2nd Christo Bull 2 fish for 15lb 0oz 3rd Gary Boast 1 fish for 7lb 6oz
1st Jim North & Christo Bull 4 fish for 31lb 9oz 2nd Gary Boast & Brian Corner 1 fish for 7lb 6oz
Everyone said that they enjoyed the fishing, and it was good to see
that there were fish caught from both lakes. The biggest on the day was a
nice fish of 9lb 14oz by Jim North, closely followed by a fine specimens
of 8lb 0oz by Christo Bull and 7lb 6oz by Gary Boast. Although everyone said that they enjoyed the venue, I always ask if anyone has any suggestions to fish the event on another water, or change the accommodation. The consensus of opinion was that we fish the same venue next year, but consider looking for accommodation nearer the venue to try to avoid the heavy traffic congestion experienced on the way to the fishery. I will check out the accommodation suggested by Brian to stop at the Crown Inn at Gayton, near Kings Lynn. I would like to thank JennyYarrow from the CSSC Events team and the CSSC Angling Council for their help and support in organising this competition. I would especially like to thank Jim North and the CSSC Angling Council for supplying & awarding the trophy’s and Chris Neden for his help with the pegging and checking the catch returns. Finally I would like to thank all of the anglers that turned up to complete and helped to make this an enjoyable days fishing. Hope to see you all again next year.
